SHORT DESCRIPTION

A loop through the idyllic Wissembourg district finishes up this route through vineyards and across the German/French border as far as the German winemaking village of Schweigen. Prepare to be wowed by some exceptional views across the Rhine Valley and the Black Forest.

STARTING POINT AND HOW TO GET THERE

  • Starting/finishing point: Wissembourg, Place de la Foire in the town centre
  • How to get there: A65/B9/D3 from Karlsruhe, B38 from Landau, D263 from Haguenau
  • Public transport: The train station is 900 m away.  Buses running on the French “Reseau67” bus lines stop in front of the train station. VRN (Rhine-Neckar Public Transport Association) buses stop at the Place de l’Europe/Europaplatz, which is 500 m away

  • Wissembourg Nördliche Stadtmauer (Northern Town Wall) and Schartenturm (Embrasure Tower), Kirche St. Jean (St. Jean’s Church), Bruchviertel (Bruch District), Château St. Paul (St. Paul’s Castle), Weinlehrpfad (Educational Wine Trail) and Weintor (Wine Gate) in Schweigen.
